Current Class Descriptions
All require a yoga or pilates mat. Please check each month’s class calendar for specific dates and times of classes listed below.
Beginner Yoga: This Hatha yoga class focuses on individual basic postures with attention to proper alignment, focused breathing, and general body awareness. The connection of relaxing breath and safe movements will help create a healthy foundation for your future yoga experiences. This class is slower in pace and may be taken by all levels.
Yoga I: Recommendations- Beginner Yoga. Participants will take the foundational Hatha yoga experiences into more challenging poses and continued breath work in a balance of strength and flexibility. This is a slower paced, less rigorous class. It is at this level cultivation of a focused mind, the ability to concentrate and development of body awareness begins
Yoga I/II: Recommendations- Yoga I. Continue the evolution of basic poses in Hatha style into an intermediate level. Slightly faster in pace than Yoga I, more challenging poses and/or basic flowing sequences may be used. Alignment and concentration improves, poses can be held longer. Preparation and practice of inversions can be introduced at this level-students work at the level appropriate for themselves. **This class may be an hour or 75-90 minutes in length. Yoga II/III: Recommendations- Yoga I/II. This class takes the Hatha style of yoga to a more advanced level. Challenging, more advanced poses are introduced, poses are held for longer, and inversions are a regular part of this practice.
Yoga, All Levels: Recommendations- At least one Beginner Yoga class. This class seeks to give options for all levels of yoga enthusiasts. Basic yoga poses and postures are given with options for modifications to either keep the pose simple or to challenge the more advanced student.
Yin Yoga: Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
Candlelight Yoga: Experience the meditative focus and intensity of practicing yoga in a studio only illuminated by candlelight. All the soothing music and soft glow of the candles melt away the stresses and tensions of the week. An all levels class, this class is open to everyone. An excellent way to begin your weekend. ** This class is an hour & 30 minute class**
Gentle/Restorative Yoga: Experience poses supported by props, such as blocks, blankets and bolsters. Gravity and the breath gently release the body melting away tension and deeply relaxing the body & mind.
Meditation Classes: Explore a different mediation technique, assisting students to grow their inner practice. Some light yoga stretching to help settle the body and get it prepared for meditation as well as some basic breathing and awareness practices to help relax the body completely is part of this class. There will be at least 20 minutes of pure meditative silence is part of every class. Learn to create inner peace, happiness and a positive view of the world. Students will feel healthier as they let o of stress and anxiety, develop concentration and focus. A meditation or other pillow is recommended, as well as a pillow or blanket.
Chair Yoga: Chair Yoga can help take one’s yoga practice just about anywhere: work, waiting rooms, airports etc. This class includes proper alignment, breathing techniques, yoga postures, mediation and more. All levels and abilities are welcome, and not limited solely to those who have mobility challenges.
Kids Yoga (ages 3-9): This Introduction to Yoga class is designed to inspire and empower pre-teens & teens through self expression and a sense of belonging. Students will learn fundamental yoga poses in a supportive and non-competitive environment while gaining flexibility, strength & focus. Techniques are introduced to enable students to learn how to reduce stress through relaxation and breath work and build self-esteem.
Preteen/Teen Yoga (ages 10-17): This Introduction to Yoga class is designed to inspire and empower pre-teens & teens through self expression and a sense of belonging. Students will learn fundamental yoga poses in a supportive and non-competitive environment while gaining flexibility, strength & focus. Techniques are introduced to enable students to learn how to reduce stress through relaxation and breath work and build self-esteem.
Book Club: A relaxing evening for those yoga enthusiasts who like to share a good book. The “Just Breathe and Read” book club usually meets once a month. The enjoy a light discussion about the chosen book read for the month. Previously chosen reads include mysteries, inspiration and everything in between.
